in a future update could you include optimization to the terrain?

Yes,
This is a known issue with the terrain, not the terrain itself, but the terrain collision detection that cause a memory leak.
Therefore, it is not recommended to use more then 2 terrains, unless you use it without collision detection.
The problem is caused by the bullet physics engine and it is a closed source so we can't fix it.
Other solution is to use a terrain models instead of many terrains.
