TOPIC: Using If Collision with a First Person camera

Using If Collision with a First Person camera 6 years 4 months ago #1192

Hey there, was hoping to have a few collectables in my first person game that you could pick up just by walking into them.

Am I able to do this? When I use the If Collision box, it needs the name of the object it's colliding with clearly. I'm not sure how I can feed it the name of the character I'm controlling if it's in first person, as it's not really a person, but rather the camera. I named the camera to see if that would work, however running into the object still doesn't activate the If Collision since the camera just gives the illusion of running into it.

All help is appreciated, I could turn it into a click to pick up the objects, but running into them would be much nicer.

I'll attempt to fix it but I can't find the solution to fix it.

Hello G-Web,
The problem occurred because you have used the name "score" for both the score label and the score variable.
You can see the fixed version here:

Hey thanks so much. This is extremely helpful for exactly what I wanted to do.

I didn't know about how to use that collision variable inside the cylinder, so that helps quite a lot.
